Our Purpose

The purpose of Aggies Reaching Out is to mentor and guide underprivileged eighth graders across the state of Texas. We provide vital information to these students and their families about the various educational programs available after high school. We also aim to give the students motivation and drive for learning by understanding the necessity of higher education for future financial success. Please visit the following link to learn more about what we do.

Service Projects

There are four main projects that ARO is focused around: ARO Houston, ARO Bryan, ARO Hearne, and Community Volunteering. Our counselors are continuously volunteering throughout each semester in order to make a difference in the lives of skilled, intelligent, and driven students!

ARO Houston

Every May, Aggies Reaching Out travels to various middle schools in Houston, Texas. Here, we put on a program for eighth graders selected by their school counselors within Houston ISD. This is a week-long event where ARO members mentor a different student each day during the school period and hold after school activities for the students enrolled in the program.

ARO Bryan

Every January, Aggies Reaching Out holds a program on the Texas A&M University campus for eighth grade students in Bryan ISD. This is a two-day event that ARO counselors put on to mentor the students and get them college-oriented as they prepare to enter high school.

ARO Hearne

Every Spring, Aggies Reaching Out holds a school supply drive for Hearne Middle School, presents students with supplies, and puts on a one-day ARO program for the school.

Community Volunteering

Aggies Reaching Out is very involved within the middle schools and high schools in the Bryan/College Station area. ARO counselors volunteer on their own or within groups various days throughout the week. ARO also volunteers at the local Boys and Girls Club, Special Olympics, The Big Event, and many other events throughout the semesters.

2018 Scholarship Recipients

Aggies Reaching Out fundraises throughout each semester in order to award scholarships to deserving students at the ARO Houston program in May. The students are chosen by the ARO counselors at that particular middle school on the basis of ambition and promise to their education. Congratulations to our 2018 and 2019 (not pictured) ARO Scholarship recipients! While COVID-19 prevented our organization from traveling to Houston in 2020 and 2021, we are happy to announce that we were back on track for May 2022, and have continue going on those trips since!
